I have been given the gift of cleaning. Which I tend to dummy down and not really…. I suppose it’s a pride thing.
“So what do you do?”
“Me? Oh, I scrub toilets.”
However, God revealed to me, yet again, how that gift is just as important to Him as being able to sing, or play an instrument or a sport well, etc.
I was talking to a missionary about a year ago in Mexico . When she found out I was applying for an internship with MTW, she asked what gifts I’d be bringing with me to the field. I told I wasn’t sure. (She had one of those scary personalities that I felt like I had to be REALLY good at something….) Anyways, later, I told my mom about it. She told me to tell MTW, or whomever, that I’d be bringing a desire to work hard and a do anything spirit, which I had, have.
I guess it came out in either the application or in the interview that I have this ability. So anyways, I was talking to Bob the other day (I’m living with Bob and his wife Sharon) and he asked what I’d be doing that day. I told him I’d be helping Sharon with some cleaning around the house. (I was really excited about this, but I didn’t tell him that). He then proceeded to tell me that when he told Sally (another team member) that I have the spiritual gift of cleaning (I had no idea it was a spiritual gift!) she told him to get me here quickly!! I was pricked with the humble pin. Who am I to think I’m not good enough for God to use?? He gave me the gifts, didn’t He…??!!
So I got to have the best day off from teaching; not only getting to clean, but also organize!! My life was complete… for a couple hours anyhow. :P
